Counselling

Counselling: $80.00, session duration 50-60 minutes ($100.00 from 1st April 2025)

Counselling offers an exploration and discussion of issues that are affecting your wellbeing, and I strive to provide a safe, non-judgmental, mana-enhancing, inclusive and culturally sensitive space in which people can feel heard and validated, grow in self-awareness, and test out new ways of being, doing and thinking.

My counselling approach is best described as eclectic or diverse, and draws on Person-Centred, Strengths-Based and Cognitive Behavioural, Trauma-Informed and Narrative approaches.

I take a holistic, whole person approach, which considers the physical, emotional, social and spiritual aspects of a person’s experience.

I accept clients who are able to access WINZ support for Disability Allowance towards counselling, please contact me if you are considering this as an option. Information about WINZ eligibility can be found here: Counselling – Work and Income

KOHA Counselling

Session duration 50-60 minutes

I offer a discretionary KOHA counselling service to those where finances present a barrier to accessing support. Suggested koha is in the $25-45 range per session, but anything offered will be gratefully received. Available on request.

KOHA Couple/Relationship Support:

Session duration 60-90 minutes

I have studied couples counselling as part of my counselling degree, and in addition to this I have also undertaken training as a Prepare-Enrich couples/relationship coach/mentor, learning to facilitate a comprehensive assessment that supports a couple to identify their strength and growth areas.

Depending on your preferences, my relationship support can be purely “couple counselling” or incorporate the Prepare-Enrich approach as a framework. Regardless of the chosen approach, I aim to help a couple to rediscover or develop their skills for working through challenges, build understanding, more effective communication, strength and resilience.

I make the basic assumption that a couple presents for counselling because there is something they appreciate, value and care for about each other and their relationship and wish to protect, and my aim is to support them to bring this into focus to help conversations to be “grounded in love” (borrowed this phrase from a couple counselling client!). Relationship support is not just for a “couple in trouble”, it can also serve to strengthen and improve an existing relationship!

I am currently offering relationship support as a KOHA service to help me cement my learning.
